If you haven't yet tried, the strawberry french toast casserole is another spring brunch recipe is one to consider.

This recipe, inspired by Sally's Baking Addiction combining fresh strawberries with cream cheese, decadent challah bread, cinnamon, brown sugar, and delicious homemade strawberry topping. This layered dessert is ready for any kind of brunch party, not just in the springtime.

Here is what you'll need:

– A loaf of challah bread (or something similar)
– 12 eggs
– 1 cup of half and half
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 1/2 tbsp. vanilla extract
– 1/3 cup. maple syrup
– 1/2 tbsp. nutmeg
– 1/2 tbsp. cinnamon

For the topping:
– 8 oz. cream cheese
– 1/2 cup milk
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice
– strawberries (it's up to you how much you want to use)
– 3/4 cup strawberry jam
– 3/4 cup maple syrup

Directions

1. Cut up your bread into squares.
2. Whisk a dozen eggs and add half and half, sugar, vanilla extract, syrup, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
3. Add in the bread pieces and soak them thoroughly with the mixture.
4. For the topping, beat and combine all the listed topping ingredients together (leave a handful of strawberries for the next step).
5. In a casserole dish, add a layer of the bread, a layer of chopped strawberries, and a layer of the cream cheese topping. Repeat the layers as many times as you wish.
6. Bake at 350°F until golden brown.
7. Mix strawberry jam and maple syrup as an extra topping. Serve in generous portions.

One of the best things about this dessert is that it is low maintenance: You’re not standing over the stove and cooking french toast for the whole family. You’re layering bread and egg in a pan and baking it. Talk about low risk and high return.
