Last month, Olivia Newton-John, 71, auctioned off many items of clothing of hers from throughout the years for charity.

One of the items was the infamous leather jacket she wore in “Grease”, which was sold for $243,200. Little did the Grammy-award-winning singer know, however, that the buyer would be sending it back to her.

"This jacket belongs to you and the collective soul of those who love you, those for whom you are the soundtrack of their lives. It should not sit in a billionaire's closet for country club bragging rights," the buyer, who has remained anonymous, said in Los Angeles this weekend. "For this reason I humbly and respectfully return it to its rightful owner, which is you."

A video posted by Julien’s auctions showed Newton-John given a bright pink box by the buyer.

"Are you serious?" she’s heard saying as she hugged the man. "That is the sweetest thing."

Although the buyer is included in the video, he has chosen to remain anonymous and is face is thus blurred to conceal his identity.

According to the auction house, the man is a doctor and medical technology entrepreneur, and describes himself as Newton-John’s “biggest fan.”

The 71-year-old is clearly ecstatic to see the man’s gesture as she opened the box.

"You're the best, you're the best! I'm so grateful," Newton-John is heard saying. "This is the most beautiful present, but mainly it's your heart that I'm grateful for."

The buyer did, however, have one request for the singer: for her to display the jacket at her cancer center.

"Yes, it was was always my dream to do that, so yes!" Newton-John replied.
