Amy Schumer is an American comedian and actress. She first rose to fame in 2007 when she won the reality television competition “Last Comic Standing.” The star went on to become a stand-up comedian and actress that has received critical and commercial success. She won a Peabody Award and was nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards for her series “Inside Amy Schumer,” which aired from 2013 to 2016.
Schumer’s film debut came in 2015 with the movie “Trainwreck.” For her involvement in the film, she was the recipient of many nominations for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay as well as a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. In 2016, Schumer topped The New York Times Nonfiction Best Seller list with her memoir “The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo.”
In 2018, Schumer married chef Chris Fischer in Malibu, California. Later that same year, the “I Feel Pretty” star announced that she was expecting a child. The couple welcomed their son Gene into the world on May 5, 2019. Due to her difficult pregnancy and endometriosis, Schumer delivered by cesarean section.
In September 2021, Schumer underwent surgery to remove her uterus due to her endometriosis. She also had some liposuction done at the same time. This was not the first time Schumer has undergone a cosmetic procedure. She once tried cheek fillers but changed her mind after seeing the results. Schumer and her husband Fischer had their first child in May 2019. The proud parents shared the news on Instagram with the cute caption "10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born." Her baby arrived just a few hours before the royal baby Sussex was born to parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Schumer also shared a photo of her and her baby bump on the way to the hospital as she stopped by the Met Gala. She posed on the red carpet as the crew was setting up, dressed in maternity clothes and comfortable sneakers.
The pregnancy was not an easy one and Schumer had to cancel her stand-up tour back in February 2019. She suffered from a condition called Hyperemesis gravidarum. Thankfully she and the baby are now very healthy and doing well.
Parenting has been full of new experiences for Schumer. “I’m surprised by how much I want to be with Gene,” she said. “When I was pregnant, I remember telling the people in my life, ‘I’m gonna work a lot, and I’m gonna be busy (when he’s born),’ but I just can’t wait to see him. If he’s napping or I’m working, I always can’t wait to see him.”
When she was a guest on Seth Meyers’ late-night show, the actress shared that parenting didn’t come naturally to her. “You don’t know how good you’re going to be as a parent. I got some nice advice from Natalie Portman, who was like, ‘You have more instincts than you know you have.’ And what I’m finding is that Natalie Portman is a huge liar,” Schumer said.

In the past, Schumer seemed skeptical about plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures. "I don't judge anybody for having plastic surgery at all," she said to Cosmopolitan in 2014. She added: "I think the industry surrounding it and the drive to do it and how it seems like usually, it's never enough — I think that's bad. I don't think it's great for people."
In late 2021, Schumer shared on social media that she got cheek fillers but said she was unsatisfied with the results. So, she decided to get them removed. "I tried getting fillers. Turns out I was already full. Thank God you can dissolve them I looked like #Malificent (sic) thanks @drjlodnp," Schumer wrote, according to People.
Then, in early 2022, Schumer posted about feeling better after undergoing surgery to have her uterus removed and liposuction. The healing process took a while but she made it through and is feeling much better. She posted:
"I feel good. Finally. It's been a journey thanks for helping me get my strength back @seckinmd(endo) @jordanternermd (lipo). Never thought I would do anything but talk to me after your uterus doesn't contract for 2.5 years and you turn 40. @paulvincent22 Vickie Lee (acupuncture) my girl Nicole from the tox my friends and fam. Let's go!"
Schumer added that after healing from surgery she felt brand new. "All my lifelong pain explained and lifted out of my body. I am already a changed person. I am busting with joy for the new energy I have to be with my son," she said.

In February 2022, Schumer shared some of the fears she had as a parent and many people could relate to what she had to say. She posted on Instagram:
"Being his mom is heaven on earth and also means a constant feeling of guilt and vulnerability I will never get used to. Your heart feels like it's outside your body and you're too old to drink the feelings away like you used to. When you were in love and scared. Send help!!!"
Many celebrities commented on Schumer’s post agreeing with her and offering support. “Perfectly said and helpful to hear," Ilana Glazer wrote. "Yep, that's exactly how it is and feels. It's beautiful and terrifying," Tan France posted. "Omg it's how I feel every day I drop him off at preschool," Amanda Kloots replied. "There's no cure," Debra Messing commented.
"I'm not a Mom but as an Auntie, I hear from my Sisters and sounds like you are right on track with it all," Debbie Gibson commented on the post. "Ahhh, the love. The guilt too… but, try to drop that girl cuz all of you Moms are doing the most awe-inspiring job by virtue of the fact that you are doing it! Amazing pic. ENJOY!"
Fans also left comments relating to what Schumer said. One person wrote: “The weirdest mix of wanting them to grow and thrive and live and travel and experience it all and yet at the exact same time wanting them to stay and be safe and watching them and protecting them from pain. Forever balancing that scale.”
