Ambulance Crew Stops Everything To Grant Woman's Dying Wish En Route To Hospital.

A woman on her death bed that was en route to her palliative care facility asked the paramedics for a favor: to see the waves from the ocean just once more.
She knew that she was dying and wouldn’t have another opportunity.
The ambulance service surprisingly gets requests like this more often than not. When the Queensland Ambulance Service received her request, they were quick to ask for permission to make this happen for her. Once they received the go-ahead, the ambulance headed straight to Hervey Beach in Queensland, Australia. The patient was then unloaded from the vehicle and her stretcher was placed as close to the ocean as possible.
One of the paramedics, Graeme Cooper, states that it’s quite an honor to carry out a request like this for patients.
"It was basically going to be her last journey back to her house where she was basically going to pass away," Cooper told ABC Australia. "She was saying how she moved to Hervey Bay with her husband on the spur of the moment and they've been here ever since."

She was carried as far down the bluff as she could be safely and was able to view Fraser Island and the pier. She was very excited and took everything in.
"I thought, if all these rocks weren't here I would get down to my jocks and take you into the ocean." said Cooper.
"One of the other paramedics, Danielle Kellan, recalls asking the patient what was on her mind as she was taking in the experience. The patient replied that she was at peace and everything was right."

Allowing those that are dying to enjoy something important to them is an amazingly kind gesture. A Facebook post written by the Queensland Ambulance Service described the ordeal and has since gone viral with over 24 000 shares.
"Above and beyond, the crew took a small diversion to the awesome beach at Hervey Bay to give the patient this opportunity – tears were shed and the patient felt very happy. Sometimes it is not the drugs/training/skills – sometimes all you need is empathy to make a difference!" The wrote.
"Great work Hervey Bay team Danielle & Graeme the Service is very proud of you."
