Alligator Found Relaxing On Family's Alligator Pool Float At Airbnb

It's comforting to live in a world of choices. When you grow up in a colder climate, you might be comforted by the fact that many wildlife species aren't found in cold weather, like many spiders, snakes, and other creatures.

So while many get jealous of those who live in warmer weather, like Florida, that climate comes with a whole bunch of invasive wildlife. Like alligators, for example.

And these creatures get so used to seeing humans on a daily basis that they can even become comfortable with our presence.

If you live in Florida, the alligator might be an all-too-common sight.

Of course, there might not be an alligator waiting for you in your driveway every morning as you leave for work. But hey... there might be! This reality left a Georgia family completely shocked when they decided to go on vacation.

Dave Jacobs booked a South Miami Airbnb to stay in with his family.

The family booked a trip to attend a wedding, according to the Miami New Timesbut that wasn't the only special visit they would have during their trip.

On the Saturday during their trip, the Jacobs family saw an alligator hanging out in a lake nearby.

They actually thought it was pretty cute! And their dog wasn't even fazed by it.

Just like how it would react to any other animal, it barked at the alligator from the pool deck.

The family thought that the alligator noticed the dog's attention and was trying to taunt it.

But the alligator had a different plan.

The alligator showed up in their pool the very next day! Ironically enough, he liked to chill on the alligator-shaped pool float. Dave's 14-year-old daughter remarked that the sight was "so meta."

Yes, it was a funny sight to see, but they couldn't ignore that a potentially dangerous creature was on the property.

They contacted the owner of their Airbnb who then reached out to wildlife control services. An alligator wrangler arrived on the scene to get the creature to safety. He let the family know that since it was mating season, he had taken many similar calls recently.

It might have just been part of the wrangler's job, but it was a big deal for the Jacobs.

Dave admitted that it isn't an unusual occurrence, but "it was unusual to me." As Georgia residents, they are no strangers to alligators, but they've never seen them encroach on other property. They had only seen them roaming in swamps keeping to themselves.
