"All I Сan Hear Is Her Laugh In My Head:" Prince Harry Recalls One Of His Late Mother's Sweetest Memories

Jul 24, 2019 by apost team

When Princess Diana died in a car crash in 1997, her sons were barely teenagers. Since then, Prince William and Prince Harry have been quite open on the effect their mother's death has had on their lives.

Earlier this year, Prince William described the grief “like no other pain” during the BBC special ‘A Royal Team Talk: Tackling Mental Health.'

In 2017, the two Princes commissioned two documentaries to honor the life and legacy of their beloved mother on the 20th anniversary of her death. In one of the documentaries, "Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy," Harry and William recall fond memories from their childhood with the late Princess Diana.

“Our mother was a total kid through and through,” Harry revealed in the documentary. “When everybody says to me, you know, ‘so she was fun, give us an example,’ all I can hear is her laugh in my head. And that sort of crazy laugh that’s just pure happiness and joy on her face.”

“One of her mottos to me was ‘Just be as naughty as you want, just don’t get caught,” added Prince Harry.

William goes on to describe a funny memory, when, one day, after he had gotten back home from school, his mother had organized a surprise for him.

“She organized [...] to have Cindy Crawford, Christy Tellington and Naomi Campbell waiting at the top of the stairs; I was probably, [a] 12-13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall, and I went bright red,” he explained.

The two princes admitted that the documentary was the first time they sat down and spoke about Diana as a mother. “It’s still raw,” said Harry. The Duke of Cambridge revealed there are not many days that go by where he doesn’t think of her.
