Beloved game show host, Alex Trebek was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March of this year, however, he recently shared a shocking health update amid his battle with the disease while also crediting his turn in health to the love and kindness of his wife, Jean. Jean also opened up about remaining positive and her outlook on life in a blog post.

The recently turned 79-year-old revealed to People that his wife of 29 years, Jean Currivan, has been a steadfast support system in his life. Trebek said Jean became emotional when he was recently given the miraculous news that his tumors had shrunk by more than 50%.

"Jeannie is wonderful. She cried, of course, this morning when she got the [good] news [about my tumors shrinking]," Trebek said about his wife to the magazine. "But it’s been a lot. It’s a lot of pressure.”

Jean herself opened up about her positivity ability to communicate her feelings in the blog post on her website Insidewink.com entitled “Peace Within.” She talks about how expressing one’s feelings is just like breathing:

“You can’t just inhale…there has to be the balance of the exhale too. This is how I began to love myself back to Wholeness and how I continue to experience the inner peace I had longed for.”

She also wrote how while she was growing up expressing your emotions or “rocking the boat” was not tolerated in her household. However, she learned to overcome these beliefs and allowed herself to be expressive in her feelings and desires. Trebek dotes on his wife for her example of support while he was suffering from some depression during treatment. "They’ve also got to be strong and not allow their mate not to feel like they’re downhearted too,” he said to People.

Although the host still has a few more rounds of chemotherapy to go, but he’s responding well and he knows that the support of his fans and family must have something to do with it.

“I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers,” he said to People. “I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo, and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this.”

We hope Alex Trebek's fight against cancer continues to be this successful! Our best wishes go out to him and his wife and family as well as everybody else who is struggling against this disease.
