Before he completed his last round of chemo as announced in People, he spoke with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America to discuss the difficult treatments he’s going through. Roberts was also a cancer patient and the two were able to discuss side effects and other downsides of chemotherapy.

His candid comments offered a glimpse into the grim experience. Trebek said that chemotherapy has been one of the most difficult parts of cancer. He said he wasn't ready for the "surges of deep, deep sadness" that occur after the treatment is administered. He also shared, “I have a good day, and then the next day for no reason that I can fathom it turns south on me.”
But the host doesn’t have to worry about that anymore as he just finished up his last round of treatment. He told People in late May that his doctors say that he is in “near remission.” It’s fantastic news for a diagnosis of a cancer that has a 9% survival rate. While he’s not completely out of the woods yet, he is optimistic and tells People, “The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.”
In March of 2019, Trebek publicly announced his diagnosis of stage four pancreatic cancer on the Youtube channel of Jeopardy!. Trebek released a public statement revealing his intentions to fight cancer and continue hosting the game show for as long as possible. He reiterated that on GMA and said, “Hopefully, everything is going to turn out well, and I’ll be back on the air with original programming come this September.”
Season 36 of Jeopardy! is set to premiere in early September. Can’t wait to see Trebek back out there.
Congratulations to Alex on fighting cancer and finishing up his last treatment. Send him your congrats below.
