Alex Trebek is a game show host that has graced many home televisions. He's best known for hosting Jeopardy! which he's been hosting since 1984, but has been hosting shows since 1963's Music Hop.

He's hosted quite a few others including Double Dare, The Wizard Of Odds, To Tell The Truth, and more. As a beloved personality by many households, game show loving families were heartbroken when Trebek prepared an announcement in March 2019 that he had been diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer.

Two Months After The Announcement

Three months after the announcement, Trebek updated those concerned about his grim prognosis. Though he admitted that the outlook was not originally good, he made it clear that he planned to fight pancreatic cancer aggressively. After a few rounds of chemo treatment, Trebek updated people in May 2019 saying that he had been responding to treatment incredibly well.

Even doctors were impressed with his progression. With some of the tumors shrinking by 50% or more, he has openly expressed his hopes on being part of only 3% of people that live 5 years or longer after a stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

NHL Awards

An avid supporter of hockey, Alex Trebek was honored to present the Hart Memorial Trophy to Nikita Kucherov. Upon entering, he was introduced to the crowd by Jon Hamm who mentioned Trebek's ongoing battle with cancer.

"I would like to introduce you all tonight to one of the biggest hockey fans in the world and he happens to be going through one of the biggest fights there is," said Hamm. "We are so happy to have him here with us tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Alex Trebek."

The crowd gave Trebek a standing ovation as he entered looking his best and remained standing throughout the entirety of his speech. This gave a lot of people reassurance that he is doing as well as his update suggests. Trebek admits that there are good days and bad ones, but he is determined to beat stage IV pancreatic cancer.
