Alanis Morissette Announces On Social Media That She's Pregnant At Age 44

Those who grew up in the 90s will immediately remember the decade’s burgeoning grunge and alternative rock scene. Acts like Nirvana and Green Day dominated mainstream music, attracting millions of fans with their emotive singing and stirring instrumentals.

One of the most popular musicians of the decade was Alanis Morissette. Morissette burst onto the music scene in 1995 with her album Jagged Little Pill. The album catapulted Morissette to fame, topping the charts and winning her five Grammy Awards.

Morissette continued her success throughout the 90s and 2000s, releasing a total of eight albums throughout her career. Now, the famed rocker is in the news for a surprising reason.

Morissette recently announced to her fans on Instagram that she was pregnant with her third child with husband Mario Treadway.

Morissette’s other children include eight-year-old son Ever and two-year-old daughter Onyx.

Morissette didn’t reveal much information in the post, including a simple photo of her with her prominent pregnant belly and the message “so much NEWness” with several hearts and praying hands emojis. Morissette’s post has been liked nearly 70,000 times on the platform as fans express their happiness for her growing family.

Despite the happy news, many internet users were shocked that Morissette is expecting another child, owing to the fact the singer is now 44 years old.

Over the years, Morissette has taken to her blog to try and shoot down the negative connotations of later in life pregnancies.

Morissette, a strong proponent of feminist ideologies, has also been candid about her struggles with post-partum depression following the births of both of her children and the benefits of giving birth at home.

Morissette has yet to reveal any new details on the release date of her next album. The singer has tweeted updates every so often, telling fans that she continues to write music.

Morissette’s last album was 2012’s Havoc and Bright Lights. A Broadway musical based on Jagged Little Pill is nevertheless set to open later this year.
