Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson Sparkled In Pink Prom Dress Alongside Her Mom & Boyfriend

Being a celebrity isn't easy, but being a child celebrity seems to be even harder, with many child stars struggling as they grow up in the spotlight. Imagine being a reality TV star, where you're not only recognized but known as your real self — it's not a comfortable situation to be in. However, some child stars handle it with class and grace. Some child stars thrive in the environment. 

Alana Thompson, also known as Honey Boo Boo, became an overnight sensation when she first appeared on “Toddlers & Tiaras” at just 5 years old. She skyrocketed to fame as one of the series' standout stars, eventually landing her own show.

Born Alana Thompson on Aug. 28, 2005, the child star is the youngest child of June Edith "Mama June" Shannon and her ex-husband, Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson. At a young age, Thompson began taking part in amateur child pageants before landing her big break on the TLC series “Toddlers & Tiaras.”

Thompson grew up before our very eyes, and now she is becoming a young adult of her own. The 17-year-old is enjoying activities typical teens do, like graduating from high school and attending prom. Thompson also has a 21-year-old boyfriend named Dralin Carswell. Although people have expressed their skepticism regarding their age difference, Carswell has gotten the approval of Thompson’s family, according to The Sun.

In April 2023, Thompson blew fans away when pictures of her wearing her pink prom dress circulated online. While she may not be a pageant girl anymore, she certainly looked like a fairytale princess.

In August of 2022, Thompson posted multiple photos on her Instagram showing her excitement for the school year ahead. She captioned the senior pictures of herself and said, “senior year!! 💗” She was pictured wearing a black top with a beautiful smile as well as some fun senior picture poses. 

Aside from fans adoring and applauding Thomspon over the senior pictures, her manager has said that Thompson has more exciting personal news up her sleeve. In an interview with E! In July 2022, her manager, Gina Rodriguez, confirmed that Thomspon would be going through a weight loss procedure before starting her senior year of high school. Her manager added that the young tv star has been on her own weight loss journey for some time. 

"Yes it's true she is having it done next month," Rodriguez said about Thomspon completing a minimally invasive weight loss procedure. "It's a non-surgical procedure, Suture Sculpt Endoscopic Sleeve,” Rodriguez added. 

Rodriguez went on to say, "Alana has been losing weight for months now and wants to do the procedure because she thinks it will help her lose more and keep it off." 

Unfortunately, Thompson has been at the receiving end of some hate comments over the years. Beyond internet trolls and body shamers, Thompson also has to deal with the fame she’s acquired after years of being a television icon.

“To be honest, I do not have many friends. At all,” Thompson said and added that her only friend is her boyfriend.

Carswell seems to have been accepted by Thompson’s sisters, and that's all the approval one needs. Having a boyfriend and a personal life outside of the spotlight is likely something that Thompson had craved for a long time.

Fortunately, it seems like Thompson has turned a new leaf as people now flood her online posts with positivity. She also appears happy with her personal life.

According to In Touch Weekly, Thompson attended her senior prom during the weekend of April 22, 2023, with her boyfriend. Thompson made waves when photos of her wearing her prom dress began spreading online. The teenager wore a sparkly pink dress that featured an intricate beading pattern across the bodice.

Fashion designer Kira Towns uploaded a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram showing how she created the stunning custom-made dress for Thompson. The designer also uploaded another post that contained a series of photos of Thompson posing while wearing the pink prom dress.

Another post uploaded by TMZ showed Thompson posing with her mom, June Shannon, with a horse-drawn carriage in the background.

People were captivated by Thompson’s dress. Towns explained how she designed the masterpiece and wrote in her post’s caption:

“I could not wait to post this💗!! I finally received my first celebrity client. I had the amazing opportunity to create a custom prom gown for the reality tv star, Alana aka @honeybooboo!! I’ve worked so hard on my craft over the past few years, and I’m just extremely proud of myself!! This is my second year creating prom gowns & my 3rd year sewing professionally 💕 I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me, and what opportunities come my way !”

People were floored by how beautiful the dress was. One person wrote, “She looks so pretty and that dress is 🔥🔥.” Another said, “The dress is gorgeous!”
