The 2016 CMA Awards was iconic as we viewed performers from the top country singers of all time. One particular duet, by legends George Strait and Alan Jackson, surprised the crowd as they paid tribute to past legends. They performed their popular hits Remember When and Troubadour.

History was made during the 50th Anniversary show of the CMA Awards. The best performers of all time joined together to create the most iconic opening number the world has ever seen. The show continued to get better as there were performances from singers such as Garth Brooks, Trish Yearwood, and Jason Aldean.

We were pleasantly shocked to see Alan Jackson and George Strait come on the stage together in an amazing duet. While country music fans knew that they would perform a duet, the song choice was originally not revealed to the public.

When they arrived on stage, viewers everywhere were amazed at their performance of Jackson's popular hit from 2003, Remember When. Dressed in a sharp, black suit and a white cowboy hat, Jackson was well-dressed for the occasion.

On the stage behind the duo flashed images of legendary country music singers who had passed away such as Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, and George Jones. After Jackson finished his performance, King George stepped onto the stage and stole the show with his song from 2008, Troubadour.

Throughout the duration of the performance, the audience was extremely engaged, clinging on to every note and word of the duet. We viewed Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum swaying and softly singing along to the music with her eyes closed while Coles Swindell also joined in. Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves were sitting together in the audience and also enjoying the timeless performance.

After a few scores, the duo joined to finish their duet. The result was a stunning performance country music fans would only have wished of before this. In the words of Brad Paisley, these two singers are "two of the best we've got."

George Strait and Alan Jackson have both been named CMA Entertainer of the Year three times. It only seemed fit that they were given the honor of paying tribute to past legends and in the words of Jackson, this honor "made my whole life."
