Pacino will be going against many prominent Hollywood stars for the award, including Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Joe Pesci, and Tom Hanks.

As he walked down the red carpet, Al Pacino tumbled and fell and was thereafter assisted by others around him to get back on his feet. It is until this moment unknown what might have caused the fall, but the actor reportedly struggled with stairs at tonight's ceremony, as per the Mirror.

Despite the stumble, Pacino seemed to otherwise be in good spirits. The actor was accompanied by his girlfriend Meital Dohan, 40, who helped him up after his fall.

He spoke to BBC on the carpet about working with his co-star, Robert De Niro.

“He’s great. The thing with Robert is you can do anything,” he said. “That’s the pleasure I have of working with him because if somehow you come up with a word or a line, he’s right there.”

“He’s so there in the scene, it’s a pleasure for an actor to work with someone like that,” he added.
