When a person loses a large sum of money or valuable items in public places, it’s impossible not to feel hopeless about finding it or even getting one’s hands on it again. Of course, there are several reasons why a lost item couldn’t make it back to its rightful owner. Maybe the person who found the item had a hard time contacting the owner, or the person who found it was in need at that particular moment.

While it may be tempting for others not to return money or an expensive item, there are still people who are kind-hearted enough to resist the temptation and give it back to its owner.

For a British man, he could only utter words of gratitude after an airport employee returned what he lost at the airport. He shared his incredible story in a post to thank the airport employees who found his belongings.

Ben Nickolson went on a three-week vacation with his family for the ultimate Safari experience, visiting the best animal conservancies and game parks in Kenya and Tanzania. That meant he would travel from one airport to another.

While he overall had a great experience during his trip, he encountered a problem when he reached Wilson Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, after he almost lost the bag containing the money that they brought with them for their trip.

He then went on to share that it was only when they arrived at the hotel that he realized that he had lost one of the bags he had brought with him for the trip.

“When we reached the hotel, I noticed one of my bags was missing, coincidentally it was the bag carrying our cash, valuables, and cards. I immediately called our rider who had been with us for more than one week,” he said.

When he asked their driver to check both vans that they used, he got shocked after finding out that his bag was nowhere to be found. So, he called the airport to check the surveillance cameras in the area.

Much to his disappointment, he was told that there were no cameras around the airport. At that point, he already felt hopeless. But all his mixed emotions disappeared when he received a call from an unknown number.

He thought the person who called him was a porter from the Masai Mara airport. But to his surprise, the person told him that the person was calling from Wilson airport in Nairobi. So, he asked his driver to drive to the airport as fast as he could.

Two airport workers and a policewoman found his bag. Airport security supervisor Joseph Kabangi told Citizen TV Kenya that “integrity is a core value” among their staff.

“I found my bag and my wallet and cards spread on the table. The long story short, I found my bag and all content intact,” Nickolson said.

To his surprise, all $19,000 and Kenya shillings were all intact, as well as other items and valuables. “It was a daydream for me,” Nickolson remarked.

Regional Airport Manager Joseph Okumu told Citizen TV Kenya that the employees would be rewarded for returning the money to Nickolson.

“Those officers who were responsible for recovering his money will be commended and will also be rewarded in accordance with the procedures that are in place currently,” he said.

Well-deserved indeed!
