People fly safely every day and everywhere. However, every once in a while, something goes array while up in the sky. One man was greeted by authorities at Miami International after a flight from Philadelphia. The flight did not go according to plan when one passenger had to be taped to his seat during the flight.

The flyer, Maxwell Wilkinson Berry, started to get inappropriate after having a few drinks on his flight. At first, he was inappropriate with one flight attendant, rubbing his beverage cup up against her before she told him to stop. Later in the flight, he spilled a beverage all down his shirt. A flight attendant had to help him get a new shirt while he walked around the plane shirtless for nearly 15 minutes. He eventually groped another flight attendant. After getting put back in his seat, a male flight attendant was assigned to watch over Berry. Berry assaulted that flight attendant, forcing passengers and a flight attendant to restrain Berry.

Using ducktape, Berry was restrained until landing at Miami International. After the incident, Berry appeared in court. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail. At his court hearing, his parents testified that he was an upstanding student and star athlete, but they also acknowledged that his actions were inexcusable. Originally, Frontier airlines excused the flight attendants involved until the Association of Flight Attendants stepped in. As a result, the flight attendants were placed on paid leave until the incident could conclude. Read on to see the viral video of Berry on the Frontier flight.

In a video with millions of views posted to social media, Berry was acting extremely inappropriate while on the Frontier flight from Philadelphia to Miami International. According to Local 10, flight attendants believed taping the unruly passenger down was the safest action for everyone.

“You can say it looked a bit barbaric, but it worked perfectly and no one got hurt because of how we did what we did,” a flight attendant, Jordan Galarza, said.

“My number role on any aircraft is to protect the passengers, including Maxwell Berry, who we did get to Miami safely that day,” he added. He went on to say that Berry deserved to be taped down for safety. “He made an enemy of everyone on that flight,” Galarza said. “The people on that aircraft saw justice happen -- more than what we saw today,” he finished

Berry’s lawyer, Jason Kreiss, said that his client looked forward to putting this incident in his past.

“Mr. Berry is looking forward to putting this incident behind him,” Kreiss shared. “We presented significant mitigation to the court, but respect the court’s judgement in this case,” he said

Frontier Airlines said that they were working to keep their staff safe while working on the ground and up in the air.

"Frontier Airlines maintains the utmost value, respect, concern and support for all of our flight attendants, including those who were assaulted on this flight. We are supporting the needs of these team members and are working with law enforcement to fully support the prosecution of the passenger involved," the airline said.
