Airline Offers To Take Talented Kid On All-Expenses Paid Trip To Broadway After Video Of Him Singing Gains Popularity

The world is full of talented people. Even though some people think they have seen the best of the best, so many more out there are waiting to be discovered. Unlike in the past, when people had to line up and do auditions or join reality competitions to get noticed, these days, it only takes one video on the internet to let the whole world see what you’ve got. The internet is doing its thing in finding a new generation of talents who will most likely become legendary artists soon.

In January 2023, an 11-year-old boy named Nathan Broxton from Orange County, California, captured the hearts of many after his mom shared a video on TikTok of him singing his heart out to Broadway tunes.

More than his talent in singing, people were particularly enthralled with Nathan’s personality. But his mom Samantha said her son is naturally funny.

“Nathan isn’t even trying to be funny — he just is,” Samantha told TODAY.

In the beginning, only regular users on the internet noticed his videos, before he started garnering attention from big names in the world of theater. It all began when author Kendra James and theater journalist Ayanna Prescod posted his videos on Twitter.

James, for one, shared a video of Nathan singing, which his mom said was her son’s audition video for "Matilda the Musical."

“I’m gonna tell you right now, Matilda gonna get you hurt… Matilda gonna have you out here in these streets,” James tweeted. “It’s the grip he’s got on that headrest for me, personally,” James added.

Prescod, on the other hand, noted how important it is to protect Nathan and his out-of-this-world talent from going to waste.

“We love to see the rise of a new theater kid. Protect him,” Prescod said.

Nathan even caught the attention of “Hamilton” actor Leslie Odom Jr. who quote-tweeted activist April Reign’s tweet where Nathan could be seen belting out “Wait For It” from the beloved musical.

"Young brother is far more committed than I even dreamt of being at his age. This is conviction! And I love to see it. On this trajectory, he'll eclipse me in no time,” Odom commented.

Playwright Jeremy O. Harris even offered to bring him to any show he wants to see. “Which show? I’ll get him tix to anything else he wants to see as well!” Harris wrote.

But little did Nathan know that his newfound fame would only be the start of many more amazing things to come after an opportunity of a lifetime came unexpectedly. Delta Air Lines invited Nathan and his family to an all-expenses paid trip to New York City to see his first-ever Broadway show in the flesh.

“I am in shock. @Delta airlines is sending Nathan and the entire family to see his first Broadway musical in New York City!” Samantha tweeted.

However, it isn’t only Nathan who is passionate about singing but his sister Sophie as well.

“They spend at least two hours a day acting out scenes with stuffed animals,” Samantha told TODAY. “They’ve recorded a movie together,” she added.

Nathan’s mom said she also believes he is not far from pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. "He wants to perform," Samantha said. "It's in his blood."

Apart from his upcoming trip to New York, Nathan has also been busy preparing for his future career – including consultations with entertainment lawyers and agents and a potential appearance in an award-winning show.

“Every moment this week is an adventure since Musical Theater Twitter entered our life,” Samantha wrote.
