The story of U.S. Air Force Captain Manny Lamson's homecoming is especially touching. The weapons system officer out of Dyess Air Force Base had been stationed in Qatar for six months when he was allowed to return home to his wife and young son.

Lamson wanted to make the reunion one to remember and he reached out to a local fire station for help in surprising his three-year-old son, Connor. The Abilene Fire Department in Texas was thrilled to honor Lamson's request and they all worked together to hatch a plan.

Connor was mesmerized when a fire truck arrived at his house with lights blazing. Connor was excited to meet the first firefighter to hop out of the rig, thinking that this would be all of the excitement for the day.

After the two shook hands, the kind fireman invited Connor to come on board and check out the rest of the truck. Connor was able to sit in the driver's seat and pretend to drive. Yet, the biggest surprise was still to come.

There was still one last firefighter on the truck that Connor had not met. As Lamson began to peel off the full gear, it did not take long for Connor to realize that the firefighter was actually his dad. Connor collapsed into his dad's arms and could not stop hugging him.

The Abilene Fire Department posted the heartwarming homecoming to their Facebook page, thanking Lamson for his service to the country.

"Since his son loves firefighters we got the opportunity to welcome him home in style! Thank you for your service Lamson family," the post read.
