‘Aguaman’ Jason Momoa Plays Flight Attendant For A Day To The Delight Of Hawaii-Bound Travelers

Superheroes don’t always wear capes, and actor Jason Momoa proved that while on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu. He gave passengers a pleasant surprise when they looked up to see him serving them water from a push trolley rolling down the airplane aisle. The video was posted to Instagram on Aug. 3, 2022. But what was behind the actor’s move to play flight attendant for a day? Was it research for a role? Just for kicks? The real reason is actually more compassionate than you might imagine.

Momoa is an actor and filmmaker who has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry since the late 1990s. He made his acting debut in the action-drama series “Baywatch: Hawaii” in 1999 and stayed on the show until 2001. A few years later, Momoa went on to star in the science fiction series “Stargate Atlantis.” He found even more fame when he was cast as Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of “Game of Thrones” – a show that helped catapult the careers of many of its stars.

Today, the Honolulu native of Hawaiian and Samoan descent is best known for his role as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe. A sequel to the first solo Aquaman film, “Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom,” is slated for release in 2023. He has already portrayed the hero in a couple of movies and is set to star in more in the upcoming years. Momoa also reached an even higher level of success thanks to the film “Dune.” He will also star in the 10th installment of the “Fast & Furious” series called “Fast X,” starring alongside Vin Diesel

With his hands so full juggling films and TV, how has Momoa been able to find time to take on a second job as a flight attendant?

Be sure to reach the end of this article to see the full video :-)

Fret not, as Momoa hasn’t actually taken on an extra job to make ends meet, although if he wanted to, this video showed he’d be excellent at it.

TikTok user Kylee Yoshikawa, who goes by the handle @livinglikekylee, posted a video of Momoa handing bottles of water out to passengers on a flight. The caption read:

“My aunty sent me this vid, I just thought I’d share” alongside the hashtags “#PostitAffirmations #hawaiitiktok #jasonmomoa #flightattendantlife.”

In the clip, Momoa, 43, looked dapper in his dark blazer, chunky beaded necklace and a pink flower behind his left ear. He pushed the drink trolley down the aisle while beaming at the travelers who were more than happy to receive their bottles of water.

“Only flying Hawaiian Airlines from now on,” wrote one enthusiastic user.

“I would drink gasoline if Jason Momoa told me to tbh,” wrote another.

“When (is) his next schedule please?” said another fan.

Some went the humorous route, saying, “Inflation got celebrities taking part-time jobs,” and called him “Jason Mimosa” and “Aguaman.”

Others also commented on the flower Momoa was sporting, saying that wearing it behind his left ear indicated he was taken.

“Flower on the left ... he is spoken for ladies,” one person commented.

Momoa and his ex-wife Lisa Bonet have been the topic of headlines for several months following the announcement of the end of their marriage in January 2022. The couple who share two children had been together for almost 16 years before calling it quits. Since then, rumors have surfaced that Momoa is dating 32-year-old Mexican actress Eiza González.

However, many eagle-eyed fans saw something very interesting in the clip. Did you manage to catch it?

If you spotted that the bottles of water Momoa was handing out were of his own brand, Mananalu, then three cheers to you!

For those not in the know, this is how the company described its beginnings: Momoa was “on a flight (when) the ‘aha’ moment happened for him. He found himself surrounded by single-use plastic water bottles but noticed that the soda, beer, and juice were all in aluminum cans. Why can’t we just package water in aluminum instead of plastic, he thought?”

With the preservation of the environment being its main goal, the brand promised that for every bottle of its water sold, it would take one plastic bottle out from ocean-bound waste. It also described the bottles as “resealable and infinitely recyclable.”

In his quest to see single-use plastics discontinued, Momoa is on a mission to get Mananalu stocked wherever he can.

“Seeing the entertainment industry take meaningful steps toward sustainability is a passion of mine and one of the reasons I founded Mananalu,” he said in response to some Hollywood sets swapping out their regular plastic water bottles for his brand.

In a video showing what was going on behind the scenes, Momoa gave an in-flight briefing, telling passengers who he was before the camera panned to the cabin and bobbing heads wanting to get a glimpse of the star. Before handing out the water, he turned to the camera to say he was nervous. But he was all smiles during the handout. Before landing, Momoa had one more surprise. In collaboration with Hawaiian Airlines, everybody on board received a free 10,000 miles coupon.

We wish Momoa all the best on his philanthropic mission, although it’s a shame we won’t get the chance to have him serve us water on any of our future flights.

What do you think of Jason Momoa’s in-flight surprise? Do you think you’ll be picking up a can of Mananalu now that you know more about it? Let us know and pass this on to all your friends, family and Momoa fans.
