After The Girl Bought A Toy, The Cashier Immediately Hid It Under The Table. Here Is What Happened Next…

As it gets closer to Christmas, it's nice to see the little reminders that show us what the season is really all about. Those reminders might be few and far between in the modern world of consumerism and greed, but that only makes them all the more impactful when they are noticed. One such story goes to show that the true spirit of Christmas isn't dead at all, it's just hiding behind a veil of materialism.

A young girl and her father entered a large toy store one day near Christmas. The father wanted to buy his daughter whatever she wanted for Christmas, so the girl swept the store looking for the perfect item. She finally decided on a gorgeous Barbie doll and graciously asked her father if she could have it for her gift. It was clear that the man and his daughter were fairly affluent simply based on the way they were dressed, so the doll clearly wouldn't put much of a dent in the man's wallet. With a huge smile, he nodded to his daughter as she hugged the box containing her new present.

As the daughter rushed to the checkout counter, she paused when she saw another of the store's customers. A young boy about her age was accompanied by his father, but they weren't wearing the extravagant clothes the girl and her father wore. They wore dingy, worn-out clothes that suggested they were struggling to get by, and when the young boy hesitantly chose a large LEGO set from the shelf, his father's head dropped and shook ever so slightly from side to side. It was evident that the man wouldn't be able to afford the toy for his son. The boy, clearly upset, returned the toy to the shelf where he found it. The father and son disappeared to the back of the store in search of something more affordable.

While the father and son were in the back, the young girl picked up the very LEGO set the boy had just set down. She put her Barbie doll back and asked her father for the LEGO set instead. After he finished paying, the girl asked the cashier for a small favor. The set was hidden underneath the checkout counter for the boy and his father. The girl and her dad waited outside the store to see what would happen.

When the young boy and his father approached the counter with a small coloring book, the father outstretched his hand to the cashier with some crumpled bills. Instead of taking the money, the cashier told the father that he was the lucky 1,000th customer of the store, and the prize was the LEGO set left by the girl. The father and son beamed with happiness as the young boy grasped onto his new Christmas gift.

On the way home, the young girl was asked by her father why she wanted to do what she did. The girl said that her mother had suggested that she buy whatever toy would make her the happiest, and it made her so happy to help make someone else happy for Christmas. If only there were more attitudes like that in the world!
