After Plumbers Discovered That Their Client Was A Holocaust Survivor, They Charged Her Nothing For Their Services

The prisoners were freed from the Nazi concentration camps 74 years ago, so you can imagine that there aren't many people alive today who have lived through that terrible tragedy. The ones still among the living are replete with stories about their times in the camps, some of which will never be heard. But recently, two Israeli brothers did hear one of those stories, and they were moved to do something special for one of their customers.

According to Newsweek, Simon and Salim Matari are plumbers, and they received a call to go to the home of 95-year-old Rosa Meir in September of 2019. She had a leaky pipe. The job came to $285. But when the Matari brothers heard Ms. Meir's story, they knew that they didn't have the heart to take any of her money.

A Routine Job

When the brothers arrived at the house, they knew they needed to get to work fast as they immediately saw a large blast of water. While the work was underway, one brother started a casual conversation with Ms. Meir, and they couldn't believe what they were hearing! As Salim Matari was talking to Ms. Meir, he learned that she had a daughter, was 95 years old and was a Holocaust survivor.

This story is not just about the generosity of two men. It is generosity in the middle of the Arab-Israeli conflict that has been going on for years. Approximately 20 percent of the population in Israel is Arab-Israeli, but they are not given full rights of citizenship.

Many Arab-Israeli people feel as if they have been discriminated against by Jews with the belief that Arabs do not belong there, but these brothers serve everybody's needs, and they were willing to listen to Ms. Meir. After hearing the story, the brothers didn't even think about taking her money. They were there to earn their living, but sometimes, it is more important to be generous. Ms. Meir couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the bill. The brothers weren't charging her anything! She was so touched that she immediately started crying.

The three of them had a picture taken with smiles on their faces. Clearly, it was a gesture that came from the heart, but it didn't end there. The brothers promised to visit Ms. Meir any time she had a plumbing issue in the future at no charge!

We thought this was an adorable story! If you think so as well, make sure that you let your friends know about the generosity of these Israeli plumbers. Also, feel free to leave a comment on this story.
