New York police officers have been the target of a series of water attacks this summer. Several videos have surfaced that show the officers being doused with buckets of water as they respond to calls on the job.
Chief Terence Monahan took to Twitter to call the acts reprehensible. Monahan went on to say that every officer of the NYPD deserves to be respected. Mayor Bill de Blasio also condemned the senseless acts, warning people that these actions can lead to charges.

Despite all of the unrest, there has been good to come out of these attacks. New York resident Kenny Altidor saw the reports and was disgusted about the way that the officers were being treated. Altidor has a history of showing great respect for law enforcement.
The artist regularly uses his talents to paint murals and portraits that honor officers who have died in the line of the duty.
Altidor was so moved by these recent attacks that he posted on his Twitter account that he wanted to show respect by holding a car wash for the officers. He invited the community to join him on July 27 to wash the police cars.
The response to Altidor's call to action was tremendous.
'Throwing water at the cops is not respectful and that's not a part of the community,' one young community member told News 12.
It is truly touching to see people come together to honor the men and women who continually protect them. After you have looked at these photos, be sure to spread the awareness to everyone else that you know.
