After Months Of Silence, Kathie Lee Finally Admits What We've All Suspected

Kathie Lee Gifford is as open as she's always been. Unapologetic, as always, for who she is, Kathie Lee decided to talk to those at "I Am Second" about her life and her dealings with loss. After losing her husband Frank Gifford and mother Joan Epstein within such a short time, Kathie really found herself in what she calls a "desert." She had lost two of the most beloved people in her life, and she found their absence at times somewhat unbearable.

However, Kathie Lee also found joy and purpose in the trials of her life and in the loss of her loved ones, which she so courageously and eloquently examines in her interview with "I Am Second."

Kathie Lee's interview shows her indomitable spirit. As she details her love of entertainment from a young child to now, viewers can see how undeniable her love of reaching others has been and is. Even when faced with adversity, even when being told by the industry that she wasn’t pretty enough, Kathie Lee never let herself be shaped by others' opinions. Instead, she actively chose to remember that God had made her unique, and she chose to forgo the idea of being fit into some cookie-cutter image.

With that same courage, Kathie Lee found she could rise above her "deserts" and tribulations to have her moments on the mountains, as she calls them.

After a hard, challenging first marriage that she deems a mistake made in youth, Kathie Lee talks about her surprise to find herself given a second chance with husband Frank, whom she shared 29 years of marriage and with whom she raised her two cherished children.

Yet, Kathie Lee opens up about their imperfect marriage. She also speaks about how they rose above hardships together. In fact, Kathie Lee encourages others to do the same, to rise above struggles and find the lessons within those struggles.

And Kathie's hardest struggle came in August 2015 when she found her husband departed. Though she knew she had lost her husband, she also rejoiced in his passing to heaven, saying "On a beautiful Sunday morning, I found my husband passed on to Heaven. He saw Jesus, and Jesus took his breath away."

Unfortunately, even knowing her husband was in a place of absolute peace, Kathie Lee still found herself grieving what she had lost and finding loneliness taking hold: "My biggest struggle at this point in my life is loneliness. I've lost my parents, my husband is gone now, and my children live far away from me. I still live in the same big house where we made a gazillion memories. And there are times when I am overwhelmed by loneliness."

However, Kathie Lee says she has been working on finding her joy and her purpose in these moments of loss. Her words of strength show us just how much she calls on faith and on the human spirit to not only persevere but to thrive, even in the face of hardship.

With the inevitability of grief and sadness striking every life, Kathie Lee's words provide us all with hope and inspiration:
