Mike Reed walked out the door into a nightmare situation. He drove his car over to a local deli to grab some food, and a man pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet and keys. That would be enough to upset anyone, but then the two men drove off with Mike's car and his dog, Franz, a miniature Schnauzer.

Mike begged and pleaded with the men, telling them his dog was in the car, but they pushed him to the ground and stole the car and dog anyway.

Mike called the cops and reached out to local social media, searching and praying Franz would be found alive. Mike told FOX 8 News that he was worried the dog would be outright killed or just be dumped somewhere to freeze and starve to death. It was very cold in Cleveland at the time, dipping close to 20 degrees at night.

His car was equipped with a GPS system so it could be tracked down remotely. Unfortunately, Franz was not microchipped, but Mike carefully described the dog's unique "mohawk", a strip of backwards-growing hair down his back, that distinguished him from all other miniature Schnauzers out there.

The cops found his car about two hours later and arrested one of the men, but Franz was not in the car. After questioning, the police found one of the thieves had decided to keep the dog and was hiding him, so they asked some more questions. According to 19 News, they found Franz two days later and returned him to Mike for a joyous reunion.
