X-Factor is the most famous talent show in the world that sees millions of viewers tune-in every night to see what kind of amazing acts will be displayed. While there are countless talented acts, only a few are good enough to gain viral attention.

Performances sometimes gain attention for reasons other than the talent. Mistakes, mishaps and outright poor performances are a favorite perk of the show. One such incident occurred recently to a 20-year old singer from Sussex.

Tommy Ludford treated the crowd and judges to a strong acoustic performance when disaster struck towards the end of his song. The singer slowly backed away from the microphone as he was finishing the performance. Ludford lost his footing and ended up falling backward off of the stage.

The mood in the theater quickly turned from light-hearted to anxious and concerned.

Two stage-hands rushed to see if Ludford was okay. Dermot O'Leary, one of the X-Factor judges also headed for the stage to make sure the performer was okay.

In the midst of all the angst and commotion, Tommy Ludford raised his hand in a bittersweet victory as he emerged without any horrible injuries. The X-Factor stage isn't one that Ludford or any other performer's could be familiar with.

The stage is in the shape of 'x' as the logo for the show. This design is aesthetically pleasing but very dangerous when it comes to active performances. As the stage is almost a meter off of the ground, everyone was very concerned that Ludford had gotten badly injured.

Ludford has been a constant favorite on this season of the X-Factor with his unique songwriting, excellent guitar playing and beautiful voice.

This performance was Ludford's chance to enter into the part of the competition with the judges' houses. His chances seemed high as all judges seemed to approve of his performances in the past.

Ludford was quoted after the performance saying, "It was amazing and definitely the most surreal experience in the world. I was really nervous beforehand but once I got on the stage I just got into the zone."

Ludford was a kitchen porter before entering into the competition. Before this performance, he admitted to being very nervous having seen many other singers walk away with disappointed looks. Ludford had made a special point to impress Simon Cowell, the X-Factor's most notorious judge.

However, even Simon Cowell showed his humanity when Ludford had fallen off of the stage.
