After Being Overseas For Work For 16 Months, Father Surprises Daughter At Volleyball Practice

This separation is hard for anyone, especially children who have to go long periods of time without seeing their mother or father. This is something that one father and daughter came to realize, as they were finally reunited after not seeing each other for more than an entire year. The father had been stationed overseas for 16 months, and when he returned home, he made sure to give his daughter the surprise of a lifetime. A video of the heartwarming moment was uploaded online back in May 2017, and has been going viral on and off the years ever since.

Their Emotional Father-Daughter Reunion

In May 2017, Yahoo News reported that the father in the viral video had been stationed overseas for a job in Bahrain, a country located in the Persian Gulf, for a total of 16 months. When he returned home, he knew he wanted to do something special for his daughter. He and his wife hatched a beautiful plan to surprise the girl at her high school during her volleyball practice. 

According to Yahoo News, this was a new activity to the father, as his daughter had picked it up during his absence. She had previously expressed to her mother that she hoped that one day her dad would be able to see her play – and it seemed like that day had finally arrived.

A video of the pair’s reunion was captured, and has since been capturing hearts of people from all over the world. In the video, the dad was seen wearing a jersey and he made his way through his daughter’s high school. When he finally reached the gymnasium, he strolled through the entranceway before he was met with an amazing sight: his daughter, who he hadn’t seen in more than a year.

It’s clear that the teenage girl was just as excited to see her father, as she emotionally let out a huge, happy scream. She was so overwhelmed that she even fell to her knees and cried for a moment with her head in her hands before finally running over to give her dad a hug. Afterward, the dad excitedly stuck around to finally get the chance to watch his daughter play volleyball.
