Every once in a while, you'll hear an inspiring story that restores your faith in humanity's ability to use our knowledge and power for good to help one of nature's majestic creatures. The following is just such an account. It involves a caring family, a whale rescue team, and a humpback whale caught in a desperate situation.

Michael Fishbach and his team from The Great Whale conservatory were out sailing with Michael's family one day when they spotted a distressing sight. It was a huge humpback whale that had gotten herself into a real dilemma that had the potential to be life-threatening. She was caught in a web of netting that had been put out by local area fishermen. The giant whale was barely moving when they found her, and the whole group feared the worst had already happened when they first discovered her.

Imagine their delight when they saw the whale make a minute movement and exhale out of her blowhole!

Though the team rejoiced, they knew they had their work cut out for them if they were going to successfully rescue their new friend. Both the fins and tail seemed hopelessly entangled in the nets!

If you know anything about rescuing a wild animal in danger, you know that it's risky business. Often the frightened animal will unwittingly lash out at the very people trying to secure his or her rescue. The group also didn't have much time to lose when deciding on their course of action. The whale was stuck below the surface and would soon run out of air if her rescuers failed to act quickly enough!

They hurriedly decided on a plan. They had to simultaneously cut the nets while also working hard not to startle or alarm the whale. As soon as the team had cut off enough of the netting from the whale's body she was ready to take off! She ended up dragging the entire team along with her as they kept working to get rid of all the nets. She took them more than a half a mile away from the spot where they originally found her!

After the rescue was completed, the team realized how close this experience had made them feel to this incredible creature. They affectionately named her Valentina. Rather than swimming off immediately, the relieved whale took the time to play with them and show off some impressive moves for Michael, the team, and Michael's family.

It was a truly magical moment that will be cherished for a lifetime!

If you pass this story along to your friends and family you can share the joy and wonder of this daring rescue! Let us know what you thought of this incredible video.
