With summer rapidly approaching, it's more important than ever to be safe around the harsh sun. Each year, warnings are put in place by local organizations and law enforcement that make sure everyone knows just how hot the inside of a car can get during brutal summer weather conditions.

Many officials caution that children and even animals should not be left in these conditions for prolonged circumstances. Dozens of children are dying each and every single year due to heatstroke after being abandoned in hot cars that quickly reach temperatures above 100 degrees.

In some cases, the parent just wants to run into the store to get a few things. But time is of the essence, and children often do not have much time before they succumb to the heat. Advocates for child safety often put out advertisements about the subject, but despite awareness programs stating the dangers of this errand, parents and caregivers still make the same mistakes.

Even with all of the warnings and information available about the topic, it seems like each year more and more horrific deaths occur as adults do not adhere to this advice.

In fact, in May of last year, a heartbreaking mistake was made when 4-month old twins were abandoned inside of a hot vehicle for a few hours, resulting in their untimely deaths. The boy and girl fraternal twins were found by law enforcement but were unresponsive upon arrival. The children lived with their parents in Chesterfield, Virginia.

Locals from the community have learned a valuable lesson about safety from this incident, and now one of their very own is stepping up to the plate when it comes to teaching others about responsible caregiving.

A 14-year-old girl from the area, named Hannah Rhudy, was horrified when she learned about the story involving the twins and their untimely passing. She’s always had an appreciation and a passion for kids, one day hoping to become a kindergarten teacher, so hearing about their sad story broke her heart.

She immediately knew that she had to do something in order to make a difference in her community and even globally.

But how can a teenager stop these deaths from occurring?
