Aerosmith And Run DMC Reunited For Grammy Award Performance

Aerosmith reunited with hip-hop legends Run-D.M.C. to perform their 'rock-meets-rap' hit "Walk This Way" at last night's Grammy Awards.

Aerosmith were not nominated this year but had a performance slot at the Grammys since they were being recognized for their conributions to music by Musicares, the Grammy charity, as per the LA Times. The band started the nostalgic trip down memory lane with their 1993 hit song "Livin' on the Edge," rocking as hard as they did all those years ago. Lead singer Steven Tyler even enlisted the help of Lizzo to sing the chorus.

In an unexpected moment, the music stops and Run-D.M.C. members Reverend Run and DMC, sporting an Aerosmith t-shirt, break down a fake wall and proceed to perform the opening lyrics to the 1986 hit "Walk This Way."  Run-D.M.C. also lifted up and displayed Kobe Bryant's L.A. Lakers jersey in a touching tribute to the basketball legend who died earlier that day reports USA Today.

The two bands electrified the stage in spite of the fact that Aerosmith's original drummer Joey Kramer not being present. Kramer is currently suing the band for excluding him from the band and had to sit out this performance. The LA Times reports that he was still honored with the rest of the band for the Musicares award.
