Adored Actress From 'Mary Tyler Moore' Passes Away At 70

An unforgettable member of the Mary Tyler Moore TV show cast passed away on April 12, 2019. Georgia Engle died at the age of 70 at her Princeton, New Jersey home.

Ms. Engle became famous for her role as Georgette Baxter, wife of Mary Tyler Moore show’s news anchor Ted Baxter. She was also featured in several other sitcoms since the popular 1970s TV series that entertained and amused millions of faithful watchers.

This popular actress was famous for her quiet, childlike voice with its gentle lisp. Ms. Engle also sang, danced and worked on the stage as well as on TV. She was on the Mary Tyler Moore Show for five years.

In 1977, Georgia Engle starred with Betty White on The Betty White Show as Mitzi Maloney.Georgia and Betty White became fast friends after working together for several years.

Georgia Engle also appeared in various TV series and movies, as well as doing voice-over work. Another highlight of her career was being Amy’s mom on the Everybody Loves Raymond comedy series. When Betty White recently starred in the comedy series Hot in Cleveland, Engle also did several guest appearances on the same show.

Engle and White’s characters ended up running an illegal pharmacy during the fourth season of the show.

Georgia Engle’s successful career was blessed with five Primetime Emmy Awards as well as excellent reviews for her stage and screen acting.

Engle’s estate executor publically announced that Ms. Engle died on April 12, 2019, in her home.

The cause of death remained unknown, as Engle was a Christian Scientist who didn’t consult medical professionals. Our prayers and thoughts remain with Georgia Engle’s fans, friends and family upon her recent loss.
