Corgi Pup Challenges Shady Pumpkin To Fight

In today's world of worry, we can all use a good laugh, or perhaps, a good cracking-up! It seems this video was made just for that.

In this video from January 2014, an adorable Welsh Pembroke Corgi puppy named Maya taking on a pumpkin — perhaps in an effort to protect her owner from the suspicious fruit. The results are absolutely hilarious!

Originally, the Corgi breed was used as a farm dog to herd cattle. In fact, they are one of the oldest herding breeds around! Maybe this dog was just taking cues from her very own genes trying to get the pumpkin in line. Or, perhaps Maya was truly afraid of the pumpkin and wanted to mitigate its threat.

Cattle-Herding Dogs

Regardless of the pup's intentions, it is clear she doesn't trust that dirty pumpkin. As the video progresses you will see the Corgi paw and smack around the fruit like it's her worst enemy. The pumpkin rolls around with each smack but usually rights itself up in the end.

Confused Corgi

As the pup hops around batting at the pumpkin, it's clear to see that she is a bit confused. The pumpkin, despite all the pup's efforts, keeps rebounding like it is ready for more. As the pumpkin gets spun around yet again, you can clearly see that there is a face drawn on it.

Perhaps this makes the puppy think the pumpkin is actually alive. Whatever it is, the cute pup doesn't like it. At times, Maya even tries to drag the pumpkin away by its stem.

The fact that it is a mini pumpkin makes the whole video even more hilarious. The average size of a full-grown Welsh Pembroke Corgi is about 10-12 inches tall and about 27-30 pounds. This pup cannot be more than six inches tall and only a few pounds, which is why the mini pumpkin is necessary. The thought of a mini pup and a mini pumpkin sure tickled our ribs.

Got You

Finally, it appears as if Maya is able to move the pumpkin as it begins to roll away. Go, Maya! However, the victory is short as the pumpkin, with its blank stare, rights itself yet again. Can a puppy finally catch a break here?

Maya decides upon a different tactic when she starts chewing at the stem of the stubborn pumpkin. It appears she might have a handle on the crazy-faced fruit when yet again, the pumpkin uprights itself.

Right as you think Maya is ready to give up — she looks up at whoever is recording her ordeal. Her look is almost pleading, "I'm cute, can you help me here?" Then, Maya starts attacking the pumpkin yet again, only this time there is a hint of play in her body language.

In the end, it appears the big, bad pumpkin is a small threat to Maya and those she loves. She most likely continues playing with it until she tires out. At the very least, this cute puppy has given us quite a laugh!
