Adorable Little Girl Comes Home With Loads Of Cash – "I Just Hold A Sign"

Apr 03, 2019 by apost team

Panhandlers and fundraising teams are often found at street corners holding signs, asking passing motorists for modest donations. Many motorists find these people annoying, and some even react aggressively. What would you do if your young daughter asked to stand at a street corner to hold a sign? If you are the parents of 8-year-old Addie Bryan, you not only let her, you joyously encourage her to do so!

Little Addie was born with a rare disorder called Larsen Syndrome, a congenital disorder that affects the knees, hips, and elbows. The disease contorted some of Addie's bones. She has a club foot, and although she can run and walk, Addie is unable to bend her knees.

The adorable tyke, as a result of the disease, has undergone numerous and extensive medical procedures at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. The hospital is world-renowned for its highly-skilled orthopedic staff, in addition to its refusal to turn away patients for inability to pay.

Addie knew that the treatment she received at Scottish Rite was life-changing and wanted to find a way to give back. That is when Addie decided that she would take a chance. The determined girl made a sign and took to the corner. The sign read "My birthday wish is to collect $8,000 for my hospital Texas Scottish Rite for Children!"

The girl raised the initial $8,000 that she had hoped to receive, but fate had more in store for Addie. Her story attracted the attention of national news media outlets! The total donations received, after Addie granted several media interviews, surpassed $19,000. The story only grew more impressive from there.

Stephanie Brigger, Vice President of Development at Scottish Rite, received a donation in the mail in Addie's name. The donation was a check for $50,000. Imagine Addie's surprise! The anonymous donor had seen pictures of Addie standing and running. His donation equals a lot of casts and a lot of prosthetic devices. Every little bit helps.

Addie is really glad that she could help. She thinks that the kids there will be happier and can maybe get out of the hospital sooner.
