Adorable Kitten Sucks His Thumb While He Sleeps

In a video posted back in 2019, a newborn ginger cat named Milo was filmed sucking his thumb while he sleeps, just as a human baby would do.

Turns out, human babies aren't the only young to suck their thumbs. A tiny, orange kitten was taking his catnap on his human's lap when she found sucking him on his thumb, exposing a cushy, pink paw. Or as the kids on the internet say, look at 'em toe beans!

According to the animal version of WebMD, PetMD says that the instinct to suckle is very strong in young kittens, and they may try to suckle anything soft, warm and fuzzy, especially if it resembles a mother cat.

The website adds that excessive suckling behavior has been linked to early weaning in a number of cases.

Thumb sucking provides emotional comfort for human babies, so if kittens sometimes suck their thumbs they are probably doing it for the same reason.

Perhaps we no longer need evidence that cats have quite complex emotions if this behavior confirms that cats feel anxiety and seek emotional comfort.

Is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen? Pass this along to your friends and family so they, too, can have their hearts melted by an orange thumb-sucking sleepyhead.
