Adopted Girl's Ultra Rare Diagnosis Resulted In The Removal Of Her 'Piercing Silver' Eyes

Sweet Primrose Austin was born in China and ended up in an orphanage. Although this is not uncommon in China, where girls are often sent to live in orphanages, what was unusual about this little girl were her silver-blue eyes. In addition to her unique eyes, Primrose was also born with disabilities such as hearing impairment and blindness.

Eryn Austin was browsing Facebook one day in January of 2016 when she came across a picture of Primrose. Those stunning eyes immediately spoke to the Braselton, Georgia woman. Although Eryn and her husband, Chris, already had two children of their own, they could not ignore the calling to make Primrose a part of their family.

The couple made plans to travel to China to officially make Primrose their daughter. After the adoption, Eryn and Chris learned that their new daughter was suffering from congenital glaucoma. It was this condition that was causing her eyes to cloud over and look silver.

Doctors also diagnosed Primrose with 6p25 deletion syndrome. This condition is the source of Primrose's skeletal abnormalities. The congenital glaucoma caused Primrose to have to live with agonizing pain every day. One eye was already experiencing retinal detachment while the other eye was continuing to shrink.

Eryn and Chris were forced to make a difficult decision. The couple was heartbroken when they had to allow doctors to remove Primrose's eyes in order to relieve the pressure and stop her pain. However, the decision proved to be a good choice. Within weeks of the surgery, Primrose was already on the road to recovery. Check out this amazing video to see how quickly Primrose was able to rebound:
