Adele Announces Two-Hour TV Special ‘One Night Only' In Which She'll Perform & Sit-Down With Oprah

British singer Adele became an international superstar for her singing and songwriting after breaking out with her first album "19" in 2008. Since then she's been topping the charts ever since her popular song "Chasing Pavements" hit the Billboard Hot 100.

She followed up "19" with "21" and later, "25," cementing her rise to the top and proving that she had what it took to become a star. Since then, she's accrued a big list of timeless hits including "Hello," "Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You," "Skyfall," and "Rumor Has It," among many others.

But her last album was back in 2015 and while the singer has spent the last period of her life focusing on her personal development and family rather than music, needless to say, fans around the world were hungry for more Adele. In the last year, she also revealed a new look, which got as many headlines as her music has done in the past.

With all of the changes that have been going on for Adele, it certainly felt like a whole new era was coming up and it only made sense that her new look would be accompanied by new music. Then earlier this month she announced that her fourth studio album, "30" will be released on Nov. 19, and at the same time she released her first new song since 2016 titled "Easy On Me."

Now, as the countdown to "30" continues on, Adele has announced a new two-hour CBS special that will see her perform live — including songs from her new album and previous hits of hers — as well as a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she'll open up about everything that's been going on in her life in the past few years.

Posting the announcement to her Instagram, the special is called "Adele One Night Only" and will air on CBS on Nov. 14, just five days before "30" is set to be released. It's exciting news for any Adele fans, as the two-hour special will be both a concert and an interview.

For the concert, Adele will be performing songs from her upcoming album as well as a selection of her beloved classics. Filmed in Los Angeles, the special will also include a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey. An official statement, as reported by Variety, describes the interview portion as taking place in "her rose garden":

"Adele’s first televised wide-ranging conversation about her new album, the stories behind the songs, life after divorce, weight loss and raising her son.”

That means she'll potentially be opening up about the meanings behind some of her new songs; her divorce from the father of her child, Simon Konecki; co-parenting and raising her son Angelo; and her highly publicized weight loss journey.

Fans already got a taste of what's to come on her new record with the song "Easy On Me." The video features the 33-year-old singer packing up and driving away. During an Instagram live tease of the song, Adele answered fans' questions about the new music and revealed that the single relates back to her divorce. The lyrics of the song include the lines:

"There ain't no room for things to change / When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways / You can't deny how hard I have tried / I changed who I was to put you both first / But now I give up"

Meanwhile, the chorus of the song goes:

"Go easy on me / I was still a child / Didn't get the chance to feel the world around me / Had no time to choose what I chose to do / So go easy on me"

As the lyrics point to her asking for forgiveness, it's ambiguous whether she's asking for it from her ex-husband or her son. But as she told Vogue during a recent interview, she hopes that "30" will be a way of explaining things to Angelo one day, as something he can listen to when he's older. She also spoke about how compared to her previous albums, "30" is different. She told Vogue:

"I realized that I was the problem. Cause all the other albums are like, You did this! You did that! ... Then I was like: Oh, s***, I’m the running theme, actually. Maybe it’s me!”

She also opened up about how personal this record is for her, saying:

“It’s sensitive for me, this record, just in how much I love it. I always say that 21 doesn’t belong to me anymore. Everyone else took it into their hearts so much. I’m not letting go of this one. This is my album. I want to share myself with everyone, but I don’t think I’ll ever let this one go.”

As with all of her music, "30" is sure to be an emotional journey and it's incredibly exciting that this time around Adele will be delving deeper into her work when the special airs the interview between her and Winfrey.
