Adam Sandler And Jimmy Fallon Perform 'Don’t Touch Grandma' To Aid Social Distancing

Jimmy Fallon is one of the many celebrities using this period of self-isolation to bring the world unique and innovative content to keep us all entertained. Now weeks into his YouTube show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: At-Home Edition, Jimmy brought on guest and friend, Adam Sandler. The two performed a funny duet that acted as a public service announcement, singing Don't Touch Grandma to encourage everybody to practice safe social distancing.

Both comedians are known for mixing music and comedy, so it's no surprise to see both Jimmy Fallon and Adam Sandler appear on screen holding guitars. They immediately jump into song, with Fallon kicking the vocals off. He sings "I love my grandma so much," to which Sandler replies, "Of course."

The song then acts as a back-and-forth between the two of them, as they sing that despite their love for their grandma, there are new rules to follow due to the coronavirus pandemic. These rules are outlined in the song's chorus, which state: "Don't touch grandma, leave her alone, you can spend a quarter to call her on the phone."

It continues: "Cause grandmas like to pinch your cheeks and kiss your head and hug, but I don't want my grandma catching any superbug. So don't touch grandma, keep it to zoom, or learn to play Canasta from across the room."

It's clever, sweet, and funny, but most importantly it highlights the importance of social distancing in these unprecedented times we're living in. It ends on a hilarious note saying, "But for now you still can smell her grandma smell from 6 feet away." Trust these two to mix an important message with humor to really drive the point home!

It's not the first time Adam Sandler has appeared on Jimmy Fallon's new at-home edition of his show. Sandler made a cameo on April 3, and also performed his Quarantine Song, this time on his own and while playing an electric guitar. In that performance he rocked out and thanked essential workers around the world for everything they are doing during these times.

He also discussed his children and having to home school them, making fun of himself by singing, "I'm teaching maths to my kids and that can't be good for America." That video features a short conversation between Fallon and Sandler and highlights their obvious friendship and respect for each other, with Sandler specifically saying: "Hey Jimmy, I love ya. Keep doing the good stuff you're doing for us."

Besides the entertainment value that the home editions of talk shows are giving us, it's touching to see how many celebrities actually share friendships behind-the-camera, showing that they are real people just like the rest of us.
