Ten years ago, a young Adam Lambert stepped up to the “American Idol” auditions and wowed the judges with “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. A few nights ago, Lambert came back to show off his live performance chops again and to wrap up the iconic show’s 17th season.

Lambert performed for audiences channeling a 70s aesthetic with giant velvet bellbottoms and ruffles on his shirt. His first of two performances was of a new song called “New Eyes,” and the second was a big surprise for diehard fans.

For the grand finale, Lambert dueted with previous Idol contestant, Dimitrius Graham for the very song that he first auditioned with in 2009, “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The two commanded the stage with an intertwining of their voices between the verses. Lambert had also come on to Season 17 previously for none other than Queen week as he helped mentor the contestants before they came on the stage.
