The rock band Queen performed their hit single “We Are The Champions” on the finale of American Idol 2009 with contestant Adam Lambert as their lead singer.

There are some bands that were popular a few decades ago but are still adored today by old and new generations. One of those is the world-famous rock band Queen which was formed in London in 1970 and celebrated its worldwide success in the ‘80s.

Back then the band raced to the top of the charts and was performing their music in front of huge crowds of tens of thousands of people. The band’s lead singer, Freddie Mercury, was considered the star of Queen as he was an incredible entertainer and songwriter whose crazy persona really made Queen a one-of-a-kind experience.

When Freddie Mercury tragically passed away in 1991, people considered that to be the end of Queen as they felt like the band’s late lead singer had been the reason for their success. But it seems as if people underestimate the other members of the band who were just as talented and not about to give up their dream.

But in order to continue making music, they needed a new lead singer who would be able to do Freddie Mercury justice. Luckily, they came across a performance by Adam Lambert on American Idol and were so impressed with his talent that they contacted the young singer.

Things took their course and after some time Lambert started performing with the active members of Queen and soon after the managed band and their new member managed to get back to the height of popularity they had experienced before.

Still, Adam Lambert isn’t trying to be a sheer copy of Freddie Mercury, instead, he performs the band’s songs in his own style and the result is just as amazing! This you can hear if you listening to Adam Lambert and Queen’s first-ever performance together on American Idol in 2009 as they sang the band’s hit single “We Are the Champions.”
