The second single from Big Little Town’s sixth album, Pain, “Girl Crush” was written by Hillary Lindsay, Lori McKenna, and Liz Rose, and since November 2019 it has sold over 2.5 million copies in the United States.

It was at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 13 consecutive weeks in 2014, while it peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Big Little Town’s highest-charting single on the general charts.

Despite its popularity, the song has garnered controversy, with some country music fans believing it promotes homosexuality.

There are many different interpretations of the song’s meaning, but despite the suggestive title, “Girl Crush” is not believed to be about two women in love.
