According to Science, Having One Of These Bad Traits Means You Might Actually Be Highly Intelligent

Typically, when you think of these traits - being messy, swearing, and staying up late - you'll be inclined to think of them as signs of bad manners, laziness, and an overall failure to function properly. However, you'd be surprised to learn that these habits may indicate something entirely different, according to recent studies.

In fact, the science proves that having one of these three habits is actually a good sign that you're highly intelligent.

So, if you have any of these traits, find out below why they may show that you're one smart cookie.

1. Staying Up Late

An article that was published in Psychology Today indicated that humans are capable of ignoring their biological clock. This internal clock (or Circadian rhythm) is common not just to humans but all animals, and it is your natural ability to know when to go to sleep and when to wake up.

However, humans are different and can change this built-in rhythm if they want to.

This means people can decide for themselves if they want to be morning people or night owls. In fact, according to the article, kids who tend to be night owls have a higher probability of greater intelligence than kids who aren't. So maybe it's not bad for kids to stay up late after all.

2. Swearing

In a study published by the Huffington Post, it was found that people who swear tend to have a wider vocabulary. The study, which examined participants aged 18 to 22, asked to identify taboo words with a specific letter in mind in a limited amount of time, before asking for the names of animals the same way.

At the end of the study, it was found that kids who knew more "bad" words had a better overall vocabulary.

Swearing has also been found to relieve pain and stress, both physical and emotional, which means that swearing might not just be a sign of intelligence but a benefit for your health as well!

3. Having A Messy Room

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, an article from the American Psychological Association described a study done by a psychologist from the University of Minnesota that found that people with messier rooms tended to more creative and intelligent. Creativity usually means being able to think outside the box: if you have your clothes on the floor around the room instead of in the closet, this is an indication that you're more of an unconventional thinker than those who keep their rooms neat and tidy.  The same was also found for those who had unkempt desks or offices.

Generally speaking, the messier your space is, the more creative you will be.

There's no need to think and act just like everyone else. So have a messy room, stay up as late as you want to, and swear to your heart's content. But also remember to take care of others and to be kind - after all that shows intelligence as well. Be sure to spread this information to others, since there may be other geniuses out there who don't know it yet. Also, don't forget to tell us what you think about these discoveries.
