The entire celebration is a joyous occasion, filled with fun Christmas carols and putting out cookies for Santa Claus to make the children happy.

If you have a tendency to start decorating for Christmas early, it might not be a bad sign. New research is showing that those who start putting up their Christmas decorations earlier than most could actually be happier than those who get a late start.

The study, published in Science Direct, noted that people observe Christmas decorations as a sign that the homeowners are friendly and optimistic. This means that if you start decorating early, your neighbors and other people passing by will find comfort and security in your presence.

The study also suggests that when Christmas decorations were not present, members of the study noted those residents as more non-sociable. However, when the decorations were present, people rating homes often noted that they believed the residents would be more sociable than those who had none.

People rated these houses with decorations as a more open environment that appeared friendly and personable. It’s interesting to note that your neighbors might find you more appealing just based off these decorations alone, but it gets them in touch with your softer and more loving side!

Although these decorations make you appear more inviting and caring from an outside perspective, you might be decorating for different reasons as well. For instance, many people love the nostalgic feel that the Christmas season brings.

Researchers from the study suggest that there are a number of reasons why people would put up decorations early, but one of the main conclusions is that those who choose to decorate are compensating for neglect in the past or reliving the magic of childhood through Christmas.

Since the time of year is known as a happy and carefree time, people like to rid themselves of their everyday stress and anxiety with these happy decorations. This means that not everybody puts up decorations to please their neighbors, but to relive magical moments through nostalgia as well!

When it comes to Christmas, no matter when you decorate the time of year is about magic, celebration, joy, and happiness. Whether you’re decorating for yourself or to make yourself appear more friendly to your neighborhood, all it takes is a star on top of the tree or simple lights to make yourself feel at home.
