Abandoned Puppy Seeking Shelter From Storm Cries Out With Joy As She Sees Rescuer

Serbia is a country full of diverse landscapes. One can drive through charming rural areas and bustling big cities. The following person made one exciting discovery as he drove his van through the Serbian countryside. This video from October 2020 shows how an animal rescue worker brought an abandoned dog home and gave her a new life. 

Farmland Everywhere

In the video below, a Serbian animal rescue worker drives down a country road. He was returning to his employer, the Dog Rescue Shelter. As cornfields flanked him, he spotted something that looked like a small dog moving near the side of the road.

Exploration

The man decided to investigate. A bad rainstorm was expected to hit the region shortly, and he didn't like the thought of leaving anybody, person or animal, outside in the bad weather. He slowed down and carefully scanned the hillside next to the cornfield.

An Amazing Find

A small brown and white dog with medium-length, floppy ears looked down at him from the edge of the cornfield. The man then pulled his white van over to the side of the road and parked it. Next, he walked over to investigate.

A Closer Look

Since the Serbian Samaritan was an animal service professional, he quickly sized up the situation. He immediately saw that the dog had missing fur around her neck because she had been chained up and left alone for quite some time. He also quickly checked her teeth and determined that she was probably only about one year old.

Showing Gratitude

The rescue worker initially approached this dog rather cautiously as he would any stray. After several seconds, the dog laid on the ground and began wagging her tail. These moves meant that she had identified him as her boss and that she was happy he had found her.

Into the Van

It didn't take much to lure the relieved pup into his arms. He quickly picked her up under one arm and carried her to his vehicle. As she rode to the shelter, she enjoyed viewing her new life from the passenger's seat.

Cleaning Detail

Once he and his new canine companion arrived at the shelter, it was time to transition to house pet life. As she was being bathed, the worker noticed many fleas and large ticks on her fur. He also got a closer look at the lacerations and irritated skin around her neck.

New Family

Now that she was cleaned up, the worker named her Lucy. Lucy was then introduced to her new foster siblings, three other dogs, and one cat. She gets along well with everyone except for the cat, who she repeatedly pulls away from the smallest puppy in the house.
