Taking in a Pet

It is not uncommon to find rescued pets being terrified of everything owing to their hostile background. Luckily, a little love and care from their new families could easily fix this and make them the friendliest and most playful dogs ever.

The beautiful golden and Labrador mix was lucky to experience this when she was taken to the pet store to pick a toy.

A Visit to the Pet Store

Like most of us, shopping for a new toy has never been an easy task. That was evident as the dog went from aisle to aisle in the pet store, sniffing and exploring every product.

The owner was patient as the dog carefully searched and observed almost all the toys in the store. As she did it, it was evident that she had a particular toy in mind and could not stop until she got it.

The Different Types of Dog Toys

Over the years, dog toys have evolved, and there are now so many to choose from. Dog toys make up a big fraction of the multi-billion dollar pet business. Each one of these toys is designed to help your pet accomplish a specific thing.

The American Kennel Club says that there are five main types of dog toys. A best seller in the dog world are toys that help in training; they help dogs identify what they can chew on and what they should not. There are also self-amusement toys that are simply for entertainment. They are meant to be strong and sturdy to fit their purpose.

Interactive toys include toys for playing fetch and tug, and they help generate a bond between the pet and the owner. At the same time, treat dispensers are toys that you can fill and refill with your dog's favorite treats and help to do away with boredom.

Another type is the kind that our retriever was looking for, which is a comfort toy. Most are stuffed and are meant to provide your pet with a sense of support and coziness. They are also soft; therefore, they are safe for your dog's mouth and it is expected for your furry friends to become easily attached to these toys.

At last!

After going around the entire store sniffing every other product, it seemed like she had found it. But in the end, she stopped and sniffed a bin full of stuffed toys, that's when she spotted her furry stuffed hedgehog.

Before picking it up, she took a long sniff to confirm it was truly the one for her. She was a happy pooch as she picked it up with her mouth and walked away as her owner held her by her leach with a wagging tail. It was a sight to behold and looked like the beginning of a newly found and lasting friendship.

Finally

Rescuing a dog and giving them a home is a commendable and charitable act. It may look like a small gesture, but it means the world to a dog. Such kind acts are sure to bring a smile to your friends and family. Pass this story on to friends and family members, and let us know what you think about it.
