A Whirlwind Hollywood Love That Has Stood The Test Of Time

These days, marriages don't seem to last very long. This is especially true with regards to high-profile or celebrity unions. Gerald McRaney and Delta Burke are a shining exception to this rule. This Hollywood couple has been married for nearly three decades and their bond couldn't be stronger. Gerald is 71 and Delta is 62.
In 2017, Gerald received the Emmy for Best Drama Guest Actor. The award was provided for his role as Dr. K. on the hit-show This Is Us.
The seasoned actor mentioned his wife during the acceptance speech and told the entire world how much he loved her.
During the awards ceremony, Gerald said that he had the "finest woman" and her treasured love.

In 1987, the celebrity couple made their first debut together on the Red Carpet. Delta met her husband on his detective show called Simon and Simon. At the time, she was working on a popular sitcom called Designing Women.
After a few chance encounters, the two began to date. The romance of a lifetime quickly followed.
According to Delta, Gerald popped the question within the first few dates. In her interview with People, Delta said that the couple was committed. Gerald knew that the rising actress had several potential suitors. He acted fast to make sure he didn't lose the love of his life.
Despite many warnings from his friends about marrying an actress, Gerald knew that Delta would understand his life better than anyone else. Gerald didn't want to be with someone who didn't understand the hectic life of a successful actor. It's not a big deal if he doesn't call until late in the morning due to working overtime on set.
Two years after Gerald popped the question, the couple had a beautiful wedding ceremony. Through these three decades of their marriage, the couple has faced many obstacles and challenges.
Delta suffered from depression, type 2 diabetes, and weight issues. Her husband stuck through it all to take care of his beloved wife.
Delta knew that her husband didn't care how much weight she gained. He wasn't ever going to leave her side.
Gerald made sure to encourage positive behavior and discourage bad diets. He also liked to give Delta her insulin shots. He always felt as though he could take care of her.
Delta showed Gerald her support in return by becoming his biggest fan. She had wanted Gerald to receive an Emmy for many years prior.
She knew that her husband's talents would be recognized at some point.
Although Gerald had been nominated for many consecutive years, he wasn't awarded the Emmy until 2017.
When the busy couple isn't traveling or working, they are living in New Orleans. This southern city is a great respite from the hustle and bustle of L.A. and New York.
Delta is currently working as a designer. She started and currently runs Delta Burke Design located in New York City. Delta designs clothes for women of "real sizes" in their mid-30s. Delta has also made an appearance of the new Designing Women show.
