Brenden Fraser, the poster-boy of Hollywood movies in the 1990s in a string of big hits like "The Mummy" and "George Of The Jungle" seemingly disappeared from movie screens without anyone noticing. However, when he did eventually emerge again people noticed a change in the star's appearance.

A before and after picture on social media began circulating and after one person shamed Fraser for the drastic change of his looks other fans and users came to the icon's defense.

Fraser was known for playing the big, handsome, clumsy hunk in films right before and after the turn of the century. His on-screen signature was humorously crashing into things, however, those stunts would eventually take their toll on the actor. He reflected on all of the stunts he did in movies to GQ saying, “I believe I probably was trying too hard, in a way that's destructive."

The before and after photo that began circulating on social media shows Fraser during his role in the 1997 film "George Of The Jungle" and then a paparazzi picture was taken from more recently. A user commented, "I think about this a lot." The comment was alluding to how drastically different the two photos are but before anyone else could join in with the shaming a host of other users came to Fraser's defense.

A user began commenting, "The guy got his life and career destroyed by his divorce, cut him some slack," while another said, "he was also sexually assaulted by a man who could destroy his career." Fraser has been open about a sexual misconduct incident where he accuses the former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association of inappropriately groping him.

"I felt ill. I felt like a little kid. I felt like there was a ball in my throat. I thought I was going to cry," Fraser said of the moment that it happened to GQ.

In addition to this, Fraser was being cast less and less in Hollywood films or starring in films he wasn't proud of. "The phone does stop ringing in your career, and you start asking yourself why," he said. His once hunky build began to deteriorate due to the toll of all the stunts his previous roles had taken, his marriage fell apart, and the sexual assault incident haunted him which is eventually why he retreated into hermit life.

"I just felt I couldn't be a part of it. I didn't feel that I belonged,” he said.

However, the users underneath the photo definitely felt that Fraser belonged. More fans began commenting saying things like, "reblog if the man on the right is just as beautiful as the man on the left," and "This man deserves everything let him be happy."

Fraser, however, did emerge from his time away from the spotlight appearing in a Showtime series other films. He told GQ,  “Something good came out of something that was bad,” he says. “Sometimes it takes a while for that to happen.”
