A Student From The US Discovers 2 Supercars Hidden In Her Grandma’s Garage

When most of us think of finding some forgotten and dust-covered objects in a grandparent’s home, items that were abandoned there, long ago, and only recovered again decades later, likely our minds first go to stacks of old National Geographics lingering in an attic or collections of old Christmas tins packed away in cardboard boxes.

Perhaps, if we were lucky, we would find something that would make for an exciting episode of Antiques Roadshow. Rarely, though, does anyone get quite as lucky as one young woman in the US, who peeled back a couple of tarps in her grandmother’s garage, only to find two ageing and neglected supercars waiting beneath them, one a 1981 Lamborghini Countach and the other a Ferrari 308.

The woman, a Reddit user who posted about the experience under the username Eriegin, generated quite a bit of curiosity, among the website’s other users, about the cars’ origins.

As she informed the curious, her grandfather bought the cars back in 1989, to use in his exotic car rental business.

When rising insurance costs made the company too expensive for him to continue to operate, her grandfather simply kept both these cars and others stored either outside or in leaky garages.

After more than two decades of such treatment, the cars are in rather poor condition, but the Lamborghini, alone, restored to fine condition, would be worth over $445,000.

The Ferrari, if in perfect working order, holds a lesser but still impressive value of over $100,000.

Eriegin said she had no idea why her grandfather didn’t sell the cars for their top-condition values, when he had the chance, and added that seeing two supercars in such sad shape “hurts her soul deeply.”

And, while she claims personal ignorance to most everything about automobiles, be they supercars or otherwise, Eriegin did say that someone else from her family would be taking over the Lamborghini and Ferrari, with the aim of restoring both to the pride of their glory days.
