Firefighters are known for their bravery while helping other people. The Camp Fire in California in November 2018 swept through the town of Paradise. Several people died because of the fire, buildings and homes were destroyed, and animals lost their lives and homes. One firefighter went above and beyond his call of duty to rescue an unlikely resident that needed help.

Chris Harvey worked alongside Fire Chief Gary Loesch to save two donkeys that could have died in the fire if it weren't for their assistance. There was smoke in the air while the two men drove to Paradise to check out a car accident that had been reported. When the men arrived in Paradise, they couldn't believe what they were seeing as the town was filled with devastation.

As the men were driving on the road, they saw two donkeys walk out from a smoky area. The donkeys looked very weak and appeared as though they hadn't had anything to drink in some time. The animals were lost and hungry.

When Chris and Gary pulled off the side of the road, they gave the donkeys some water. Chris gave him a few apples that he had in his bag.

After making sure the donkeys were alright, Chris contacted the firebase in the area to let someone know about the animals. The men waited with the donkeys until an animal control officer arrived to take them to safety.
