A Shelter Puppy Is Rocking The Sweetest Handlebar Mustache
Aug 07, 2019 by apost team
A stray German shepherd mix recently gave birth to a remarkable litter of puppies at a Dallas shelter. When the staff looked at her litter, they noticed something different. Dogs are born with whiskers, but one puppy had an interesting variety of facial hair: a handlebar mustache.
The Dallas Animal Services shelter took care of the mom and her little puppies for two weeks, but there was a limit to how much care they could provide. They have up to 100 stray animals coming to their facility each day, so they realized they couldn't give the new family the attention that it needed.
A dog rescue expert stated that the situation is difficult for small puppies in shelters. Little pups tend to get sick in shelter environments because of the large traffic of stray animals and the close quarters of their accommodations.

Hearts and Bones Rescue went to see the puppies, and they were fortunate to find a foster home in Dallas for the new family. It's lucky for the dogs that the household was willing to take all of them into their care.
Caretakers were clever enough to name the puppy Salvador Dolly after the famous painter who had a similar mustache. The pup also goes by the nickname of Mustache Puppy for those who are less culturally inclined. Salvador is only 5 weeks old, which seems like a young age to grow a prominent mustache, but the puppy bears it with pride.
When people see the mustachioed puppy, they're initially in disbelief, but they also are taken with how adorable this feature looks. People sometimes have to ask if the mustache is real because it seems unique. The whole group of puppies is also cute enough to elicit their own remarks of affection from people who meet them for the first time.
The dog family is in a nice home where they receive the attention and medical care that they need. The mama dog is still nursing her litter, and her foster owners are making sure she gets sufficient food for the task. The mom needs a break sometimes, but the puppies are enthusiastic to play and cuddle with each other constantly. They seem to have a happy life.
When the puppies grow up, they will travel up to New York City to find individual homes. When Salvador Dolly goes out into the world, some lucky household will be happy to take in such an interesting and cute dog.
