A beloved Disney classic gets remade into a live-action movie, and a shelter dog gets a new life as one of the movie's main stars. Now, that's a story for the ages.

'Lady and the Tramp' is the story of a refined Cocker Spaniel named Lady and a rough-around-the-edges stray mutt named Tramp. They meet and, eventually, fall in love after going on many adventures. The original animated version of this love story came out in 1955. It's been a favorite for many people ever since.

When Disney decided to remake this classic into a live action movie, they went looking for dogs to play the parts of Lady and Tramp. Finding Lady was easy since she was a purebred American Cocker Spaniel. They decided on a female named Rose reports People.

However, finding Tramp wasn't so simple. They needed a mixed breed dog that looked like the original Tramp. The trainers found their dog at the HALO Animal Rescue in Las Cruces, New Mexico. His name is Monte. He's a terrier mix with an easy temperament, good behavior, and wet kisses. He is the dog that will become the iconic, live-action Tramp.

You can see the new movie when it's released to Disney+ in November. You will notice a lot of dogs in the movie. The good news is that the dogs that came from rescue shelters have all found their forever homes.
