A Positive Attitude Is Way More Powerful Than You Think

Everyone has experienced one of those days where nothing seems to go right. You wake up with a laundry list of to-dos and don't feel like you'll get any of them accomplished.

Your alarm malfunctions or you sleep through it and end up being hours late to work or school. Your coffee spills. You get a flat tire. An officer pulls you over for speeding into work. We have all experienced these less-than-ideal situations.

Unfortunately, many of us let these negative experiences impact the remainder of our day. We decide to give up for the rest of the day because of a few minor setbacks.

I remember waking up one day and discovering I was two hours late for work. In a panic, I ran to my car without a thought of breakfast or brushing my teeth. Needless to say, I was in a hurry to get to work. When I was only a single turn away from work, an officer flashed his lights and my heart sank.

As the officer walked up to my door and asked where I was driving, I began to tear up. I pointed to work and began to explain myself. After the stop, I made it into work and apologized to my boss. I was flooded with negative emotions that morning, but I didn't let those feelings influence the rest of my day.

I didn't forget or ignore the events from that morning, I simply chose to not let them define me. My attitude that day allowed me to have more fun and laugh more often than usual. It wasn't a care-free attitude, but I chose what to care about. There was no point in dwelling on the negative aspects of that morning.

That would have only made the rest of my day worse. Life is only small percentage what happens to you. The vast majority is how your react to those events and experiences.

Having a positive attitude is a powerful force that people can use to transform their lives. Tires can be replaced, new work can be found and tickets can be paid. The hours in a day can never be replaced and experiences can't be had twice. Invest your energy and positivity in the here and now.

Acknowledge all of the good things in your life and be thankful for them. Try your hardest to see the good in everyone.

It's a great perspective to see setbacks and small failures as stepping stones towards happiness and success. Pray or meditate to remain calm and in control of your emotions. We tend to lose whenever our emotions get the best of us. It is critical to remain in control of your emotions.

Smiling is one of the simplest and most profound habits. It is so simple to do, yet it has such a positive impact on yourself and others. Smiling is contagious and the feelings elicited by such a small action are just as great. Keep your mind and heart strong. Always focus on the positivity of the present.
