It’s pretty standard at any major sporting event to expect to hear the "Star-Spangled Banner" performed for an appreciative crowd. However, it isn’t always expected for it to turn into a multi-media art performance. Artist Joseph Evans recently performed the "Star-Spangled Banner" at an Arkansas Razorbacks basketball game and the crowd had no clue what they were in for. Needless to say, the crowd was up on their feet with roaring applause by the time he finished his incredible performance.

Spectators of the game grew silent as he began to sing the lines to the song we all know so well and hold so dear. However, they wondered what exactly the canvas in front of him was going to be used for. It appeared that the top of the canvas was just a black, mountain-like patch. No one knew exactly what they were watching. However, Joseph Evans began to splash paint into the canvas in a highly dramatic fashion. The entire time he continued to sing as he painted the canvas.

The crowd was completely mesmerized by what was going on. However, no one could exactly determine what he was painting. It was definitely a beautiful piece of art, but it looked very abstract to those watching. Joseph even began to use his fingers while he sang, adding dots to various parts of the canvas. He then began to utilize multiple brushes at once to work on his art. He used the paint brushes to splash paint on the canvas in a dramatic fashion. He never broke from his song, and he never missed a note.

As Joseph continued working, he added various shades of blue to the black portion of the painting, whittling out the black part to become more of human shape. At the very end of the song, Joseph rotated the painting 90 degrees to reveal what he had been working on the entire time. The black portion of the canvas was now clearly soldiers in combat, with the deep blue sky above them.

Joseph made one final incredible touch. He used a flat-brush that was pre-painted with red and white stripes to swoosh the American flag onto the top of the canvas, overlooking the soldiers. He finished with his hand over his heart, receiving a roaring ovation from the audience. His incredible creativity is astounding.
